Any Questions?

Moving Without Brother

Question

My brother lives with us but he’s never home. It’s like he isn’t here. We have to move soon and he won’t be going with us. I’m really scared about moving. It will just be my mom, my cat, and me. What should I do?

Answer

Moving to a new place can be scary. Family is important to us as we go through change. That’s probably why you’re thinking about your brother more. It sounds like you’re sad and disappointed that he isn’t around much.

Older brothers sometimes forget how important they are to their little sisters. Try to talk to him. Tell him you miss spending time with him and that you’ll miss him even more after the move. Ask him for his advice about moving and ways you can keep in touch. If it goes well, tell him you’d like to talk to him again, maybe over a hamburger and fries. Hopefully, you’ll start feeling closer to him whether you live together or apart.
